5 Reasons Why You Need to Book a Weekend at Escala Tagaytay (Philippines)

Escala Tagaytay 1-min

Tagaytay is almost everyone’s go-to destination during weekends and holidays, which is precisely why we haven’t been to Tagaytay for the past 2 years haha! But that’s changed earlier this month. What lured us back? The newly opened Escala Tagaytay, of course, and I’m here to show you guys why!

Here are my top 5 reasons why you absolutely have to book a weekend at Escala Tagaytay!

1. It’s all about the view!

Escala Tagaytay 14-min

If you’re looking for the best viewpoint in Tagaytay, look no further! Tell me, how can you beat this view from the lobby? And get this, it doesn’t stop here: the view is spectacular all around the property!

Escala Tagaytay 10-min

Take this for example: here’s the view from the main restaurant. Talk about dining in style!

Escala Tagaytay 9-min

And here’s the restaurant (and the view) from another angle. Amazing isn’t it?

One of the beautiful things about Escala that I find so endearing is how the architecture seems to complement, and not compete, with the landscape. It’s like the whole place was designed to ensure you don’t miss out on the scenery!

Escala Tagaytay 16-min

It’s all so romantic, actually… that is, until the little one decides it’s time to crash the party. 😐 Haha.

2. The rooms are amazing

Escala Tagaytay 5-min

New, modern, clean and spacious. It was all you could ask for from a hotel. Great for families. We had a peaceful night’s stay at Escala Tagaytay.

Escala Tagaytay 3-min

Our booking says “Deluxe Room” but upon checking their website, I think our room looks more like the “Premiere Room”. Not sure if we were upgraded unknowingly? But the room was just the perfect size for us with 3 adults and 1 kid (brought Luke’s yaya with us)

Escala Tagaytay 4-min

This is the bathroom. Simple and clean. No complaints!

Escala Tagaytay 6-min

And my favorite part about our room: the balcony that overlooks the pool. I believe all the rooms in Escala Tagaytay have a private balcony that you can enjoy. I know my boys did!

Escala Tagaytay 7-min

This was the view from our room. Isn’t that pool just something else? I know I keep on saying it but come on, look at that view! Which brings me to the next item on my list…

3. Best pool in the city, hands down!

Escala Tagaytay 2-min

An infinity pool that overlooks Taal Volcano? There’s nothing like it. But to be rewarded with this spectacular sight, you gotta have guts…

Escala Tagaytay 8-min

The pool was really, really cold. Haha! It took my boys two tries (as in, two separate days!) to finally be able to muster up the courage to brave it out to the end but they did it!

Escala Tagaytay 24-min

Yaaay! Congratulations!

Escala Tagaytay 22-min

At first they could barely move from this spot. Haha! But don’t worry. We asked the pool attendant and he said there were plans to make the pool heated by August 2018, so just a few more months!* In fact, Luke says that’s why we need to book again when August comes around. 😉

*UPDATE JAN 1, 2020: Was informed by a reader that the pool wasn’t heated yet when they visited just recently. Please inquire at the hotel directly to make sure before going to avoid being disappointed 😉

Escala Tagaytay 19-min

As for me, I was excused. I just sat on the edge and dipped my legs. Hehehe.

Escala Tagaytay 15-min

And at night, the pool turns into a shining, shimmering beauty.

4. Breakfast is the bomb

Escala Tagaytay 11-min

If you came to Tagaytay to eat, Escala’s breakfast spread won’t disappoint. (Yes, that’s coffee bun and banana bread that you see there!)

Escala Tagaytay 18-min

There it is again, the view!

Escala Tagaytay 20-min

I’m a sucker for natural lighting and if you ask me, there’s no bad seat in the house!

Escala Tagaytay 13-min

The buffet spread where you can have everything from salad, all kinds of breads, palabok, champorado and more!

Escala Tagaytay 12-min

Guess whose plate is whose? :) One plate for me, one for Mor and one for Luke. Haha. This was just the first round though!

Escala Tagaytay 17-min

Bread for me, forever!

Escala Tagaytay 21-min

And whaaat? Banana Nutella crepe for breakfast? Don’t mind if I do!

5. Can’t ask for a better location

Escala Tagaytay 23-min

Escala Tagaytay is situated a few blocks away from the busy main road (which is ideal, if you ask me, because it’s definitely more peaceful!) but at the same time, it’s still within proximity to other places of interest like Sky Ranch and a lot of Tagaytay’s famous restaurants.

During our stay, we slipped out at night to have dinner at Balay Dako by Antonio’s and it was just a 5-8 minute ride away! We also passed by other popular hangout places like The Cliffhouse or Josephine’s Restaurant. So you definitely won’t run out of places to visit!

Overall

Escala Tagaytay 25-min

If you’re looking for a luxurious weekend getaway, you’ve come to the right place. Escala is perfect for couples and families and I highly recommend it if you plan on spending some time in Tagaytay.

Haha! I can imagine!! Yes the only downside of a heated pool is for sure there will be a LOT more people in the pool at the same time. Haha

I say that’s easily one of the best pools I’ve seen in the blogosphere! The view is just fantastic. The place itself is a beautiful too, they really integrated the hotel to its environment.

Today is Dec 29,2019 and the pool as you said in your blog will be heated sometime aug 2018. Well this did not happened. So if you are kind, pls edit this because this is the reason we checked in, and im dissapointed. Be been to anya resort before we checked in in escala hotel, anyas pool really is heated up to 30deg cel.

Hi Arthur, thanks for informing. I haven’t been in touch with the hotel since we stayed there so I was not informed they never had the pool heated. I will edit my post to include a disclaimer. It would be wise to inquire directly at the hotel though next time, to make sure. 😉
