COVID-19 Time Capsule Printable for Kids (FREE DOWNLOAD)

COVID19 Time Capsule 1-min

Here’s a little something for those of you who are looking for a memorable activity to do with their kids while sheltering in place (yes, let’s do our part!)

Living in Unprecedented Times

We are living in unprecedented times. Major cities have shut down. Schools, offices, malls are closed. This is literally history in the making.

COVID-19 has disrupted life as we know it and our kids are living in this new reality.

In the future, by God’s grace, our kids will look back on this time and talk about this with their own kids and grand kids. What will they remember? What are the stories they will be sharing?

COVID-19 Time Capsule for Young Kids

COVID19 Time Capsule 2-min

Creating a time capsule is a great way to freeze this moment in time.

Initially, I saw a time capsule printable from Long Creations (click here for that!) and thought it was a brilliant idea! I was ready to print it and was eager to give it to my son.

However, upon reading, I realized that it was geared more for older kids. It was definitely a wonderful set for sure, but I just felt that it didn’t suit my 5 year old. He most probably would not be able to complete it on his own.

So I decided to make a simpler one for younger kids. This set has only a few questions and is easy to complete. I also made sure there was enough white space so that it’s easier for children who are just beginning to learn how to write.

The PDF file contains 2 pages, formatted for A4 paper. You can print it as is or do as we did, which is to cut out the rectangles individually. Scroll below for a link to the download!

The title box should fit a small child sized shoebox.

Suggestions for Other Things You Can Include

Aside from including the printables, it would also be nice to include other items to make it more memorable. Here are some suggestions:

  • A printout of the latest news article on COVID-19
  • Pictures of what you’ve been doing during community quarantine
  • Wrapper of a favorite snack (clean it before you put it in!)
  • Empty box of your antibacterial soap or empty bottle of alcohol spray
  • A shirt the child outgrew, if any, during the period
  • A letter to his/her future self
